The Dales Trail is now a responsive website

After a lot of work, and some angst, The Dales Trail has been been re-coded and relaunched as a ‘responsive website’.

What is a Responsive website?

Well, the site should now ‘respond’ to whatever device you view it on. This could be a smartphone, a tablet of any size, a laptop or a desktop PC. Whatever the device you’re using, you will be able to see all our content in a way that works best for that device.

Why change to a Responsive website?

There has been, over the past 2 years, a huge increase in people using the internet over mobile devices, whether that’s smartphones like the iPhone or Android phones or tablets like the iPad, Galaxy Tab, Nexus 7 or Kindle Fire. And the number continues to grow extremely quickly. Some respected consultancies believe that within 2 years more people will be accessing websites using mobile devices than using traditional PCs and laptops.

The Dales Trail wanted to recognise this and move with the times. We want our users to have a great experience however they choose view our site.

More work to be done?

We recognise that nothing is perfect; there are always improvements that can be made. We will keep working to make your experience better, whether it is to the responsive layout or developing and increasing the site content.

If you have any comments or suggestions, we will be thrilled to hear them. Don’t hesitate to leave a comment to this blog post or contact us directly.
