Saltaire Arts Trail, 28–30 May 2011

Saltaire Arts Trail is a real Yorkshire Dales Trail favourite! We’ll be there this weekend.

For those that have never been, the Saltaire Arts Trail is a great opportunity to view (and buy) original art whilst having a look around some of the wonderful homes in this World Heritage Site, at no charge.

The trail, around 12 historic homes in Saltaire, hosts the works of c.50 Yorkshire artists. Some are nationally renowned, others are just starting out, and there’s a broad range of work on show. Plus, many of the artists will be present during the 3 days and will be happy to talk about their work.

But there’s more. Victoria Hall features a Maker’s Fair and, again, entrance is free. There are family activities like Teepee building, making mazes, dens and tunnels, exhibitions and even a mobile cinema. Also, don’t forget the permanent, free to enter, David Hockney exhibition at Salts Mill.

The village always has a great atmosphere during the Arts Trail weekend and getting there is easy. By far the best way is by train, as Saltaire station is in the heart of the village.

Pay a visit … I thoroughly recommend it.
